Begin your day with a relaxing walk around the Penang Botanic Gardens, established by the British in 1884 from an old granite quarry site. Its unique heritage and history on a sprawling 50 hectares of beautiful parklands is the only kind in Malaysia.  Spot the occasional native wildlife; such as, the long tailed macaque monkeys native to this tropical rainforests.

From here, we will travel to a fresh produce or ‘wet’ market where you will experience local traders displaying their wares of exotic fruit, spices, freshly caught seafood and other foodstuffs. Enjoy a traditional Penang style breakfast snack from one of the local traders.

Next, we will visit the reclining buddha of Penang – Wat Chaiya Mangalaram – a Thai Buddhist temple, first built in 1845. The reclining buddha is the third largest in the world, measuring 33 metres. Across the road is another temple – The Dhammikarama Burmese temple. Originally constructed in 1803, the Dhammikarama is the oldest temple in Penang.
